Apologies, grandad.
I’ve been using your birth
in a hospital in Dublin
to help me sail through airports
while everyone I know
has to wait.
Sadly I know little of
your
life
but thank you very much
for leaving your home,
on a ferry, I suppose,
and finding work in Wales
where I was born.
I’ve only been to Ireland once.
The town was full of students
so I had to wait
for ages
at the bar.
When I asked for a bitter
I was told
You’re not in England now
so I had to drink a Guinness,
which I hate.
